Lots Of Vintage KTXL TV 40 On You Tube!!! Check It Out!!!

There is much more KTXL TV 40 videos on YOU TUBE in addition to FANTASTIC FLICK such as THE DINNER MOVIE, THE MILLION DOLLAR MOVIE, CAP'N MITCH as well as those intros to the numerous SUMMER FILM FESTIVALS. Check them all out at

After calling it FANTASTIC CINEMA for so long, I finally found out via a clip on YOU TUBE, that its true title was FANTASTIC FLICK. This was a fixture on KTXL TV 40 in the afternoons on Saturdays. These horror and sci-fi movies tended to be a little more family friendly compared with the movies shown by BOB WILKINS on his SATURDAY NIGHT shows. FANTASTIC FLICK was also HOSTLESS. For a look at the clip, check it out at Initially it started at 11:AM but later switched to 2:PM.

July 27, 1968 Schedule: "Creation Of The Humanoids" and "Secret Agent" 11:45PM

BOB WILKINS showed a Z Grade Sci Fi Classic called CREATION OF THE HUMANOIDS starring DON (THE CREATURE WALKS AMONG US) MEGOWAN and DUDLEY (PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE) MANLOVE. Then afterwards Bob showed an episode of SECRET AGENT. Photo Courtesy Of August Ragone. Thanks!!!

On this evening on KCRA Channel 3, BOB WILKINS shows the AIP Classic, THE MASTER OF THE WORLD starring VINCENT PRICE, CHARLES BRONSON and HENRY HULL in a movie based on a JULES VERNE novel and adapted to the screen by RICHARD MATHESON. A little trivia: Both Price and Bronson costarred together in HOUSE OF WAX (1953). Bob also shows an episode of Secret Agent.

I wish to apologize to the folks at KTXL FOX 40. I assumed that they were not going to celebrate their anniversay, when in fact they are. GREG SAUNDERS at KTXL informed me by email that KTXL will indeed air a special including some vintage videos of the old KTXL TV 40 of yesteryears. Greg, however, is looking for old videos or film of BIG TIME WRESTLING. All they have is stills and some audio. They have already set up a website with streaming old videos including CAP'N MITCH. Check it out at,0,4237853.videogallery It is very interesting!

Important Announcement! KTXL TV 40 Will Be Turning FORTY This October!

This October, I am planning to celebrate the 40TH Anniversary of KTXL TV 40. YES! FORTY IS FORTY! I am planning everything from printing the program schedule of KTXL TV 40 on its very first day on October 26 as well as writing a history of KTXL TV 40 (Not Definitive but hopefully close) and printing everyone's favorite memories and moments of KTXL. And it doesn't have to deal solely on BOB WILKINS but on other stuff like CAP'N MITCH, BIG TIME WRESTLING, MATINEE MOVIE, ANNUAL SUMMER FILM FESTIVAL and MORE!!! Please send your memories to my comments page. Thanks! I am looking forward to the big celebration which unfortunately will probably not be celebrated by KTXL themselves! The KTXL Logo above is from 1982 and next to it is their current FOX 40 Logo.

July 13, 1968 Schedule: "Man In Outer Space" and "Secret Agent" 11:30PM

On this evening at KCRA, Bob Wilkins shows an interesting Czech Sci-Fi Movie called MAN IN OUTER SPACE about a workman who is accidently sent to space, then meets an alien who can turn himself invisible. I saw this in the 1970's on KTXL TV 40 on its hostless FANTASTIC CINEMA. Also Bob started showing the british tv series SECTRET AGENT (aka DANGER MAN) starring PATRICK (THE PRISONER, SCANNERS) McGOOHAN as secret agent John Drake. This show replaces THE OUTER LIMITS.

July 6, 1968 Schedule: "Queen Of Outer Space" and "The Outer Limits" 11:30PM

Bob Wilkins shows a CAMP CLASSIC from ALLIED ARTISTS which is also available on DVD from WARNER HOME VIDEO as a CAMP CLASSIC. It is a 1958 Science Fiction movie called QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE. After the movie, Bob shows an episode of THE OUTER LIMITS, which by the way, is the final episode of that Bob will show. By the following week, SECRET AGENT replaces THE OUTER LIMITS. Still unsure if Bob also hosted SECRET AGENT?
